Assessor(s)
L. von Staden
Justification
Euphorbia muraltioides is a very poorly known species, last collected in the early 1900s. Not enough is known about its population size, structure and trends to determine its risk of extinction. Field surveys are needed to relocate this species in the wild.
Distribution
Endemism
South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Eastern Cape
Range
It occurs in the Grahamstown district in the Eastern Cape.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system
Terrestrial

Grahamstown Grassland Thicket
Description
This species' specific habitat requirements are unknown.
Threats
Threats to this species are unknown. If it occurs on lower slopes and valley bottoms, it is possibly threatened by habitat loss to agricultural expansion. The specific habitat requirements of this species is not known, and therefore threats are difficult to infer.
Population

This species is known from only a few collections, dating from the early 1900s. It is a member of the herbaceous group of Euphorbias, which has received far less attention than the succulents. It is possibly overlooked and confused with other, similar species. Field surveys are needed to relocate this species in the wild, as currently nothing is known about its population size, structure and trends.
