Assessor(s) | H. Mtshali |
Justification | Known from 20 locations in South Africa, this species has a widespread distribution, with an extent of occurrence of 61 246 km², but a small area of occupancy of 96 km². There has been a significant decline to the population of this species over the last few decades due to illegal harvesting to supply the specialist succulent trade and loss of habitat due to mining. It therefore qualifies as Near Threatened under criterion B. |
