Justification
A very widespread species across southern Africa that has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 2 501 996 km². It is known from more than 300 subpopulations and has no severe threats. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is widespread and is found in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola, Namibia, Swaziland and South Africa. Within South Africa, it occurs in Limpopo, North West, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and the Northern Cape province.

Description
It grows in various types of dry woodland (Acacia, mopane), thicket and open wooded grassland, scrub on open rocky hillslopes, sandy or clay soils.
Threats
One subpopulation in the Port Shepstone district is affected by direct competition with invasive alien species, which is a continuing threat.
Population

It is known from many subpopulations and has no severe threats. The population is assumed to be stable.
