Although this species is known from only a few collections in South Africa it is very common, widespread and not threatened. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

In South Africa this species occurs from Waterberg to Louis Trichardt and Barberton. It is extremely widespread and common across Africa and Madagascar, occurring as far as India.
