Justification
This species has a restricted distribution range where it occurs in the Sekhukhuneland Centre of Endemism, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 509 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 32 km². It is known from between five and 10 locations. The population is declining due to habitat loss and degradation. It is therefore listed as Vulnerable under criterion B.

It has a restricted distribution in Sekhukuneland Centre of endemism in Mpumalanga Province, where it occurs between Roos Senekaal and Steelpoort northwest of Lydenburg.

Description
A deciduous geophyte that is 20-40 mm in diameter. It is found in open woodland on rocky granitic outcrops in lightly shaded situations in humus-rich soils.
Threats
Mining in the areas where this species is found has resulted in the loss of not only habitat but of several subpopulations of the species too. Historically, mining was not regulated, and recently a lot of illegal mining is taking place within the habitat where this species occurs.
Population

It is known from five scattered subpopulations in a small area. The population is declining due to habitat loss and degradation.
