Description | Grows in humus-filled cracks on high, shady, south-facing cliffs of quartzite rocks. |
Threats |
| There apparently appears to be no serious threats to this species at present as a result of its inaccessible, inhospitable habitat. It may be sensitive to fire (Venter et al. 2006), but fires are not likely to reach the rocky cliff faces where this plant grows. Most of its habitat is within a private conservancy. Scattered alien invasive plants are present at one known location, and could potentially lead to habitat degradation if not cleared.
The type locality is near a mine, and in recent years there has been renewed interest in mining in the Barberton area. Subpopulations outside protected areas are potentially threatened by habitat loss to mining, and authorisation of mining or prospecting activities could lead to this highly range-restricted species rapidly increasing its of extinction. |
