Threats |
The Roggeveld is severely overgrazed, which has led to the near extinction of some endemics. Many Ornithogalum species of the subgenus Aspasia are however poisonous to stock, and thrive under mild disturbance (Manning et al. 2007), which means that grazing has probably favoured this species and may explain why it is so abundant. |
Population |
Locally extremely common, with dense colonies of thousands of plants covering large areas of the Roggeveld Escarpment.
|
Population trend | Stable |
