This species has a restricted range, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 9152 km². It is known from 10-15 locations and is likely to continue to decline due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation.

Description
It occurs in submontane grassland and rocky hillsides in Protea grasslands.
Threats
Nearly 50% of this species' grassland habitat has been irreversibly modified, predominantly due to establishment of exotic timber plantations. It is suspected to be locally extinct at four locations known from historical records. Land cover data indicate ongoing sporadic habitat loss.
Population

This species is known from only a few, scattered records, but may be overlooked due to taxonomic problems.
