Justification
This species is highly restricted to the Polokwane region. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) of 12 km². The known subpopulations are severely fragmented, with less than 100 mature individuals recorded. The population continues to decline due to inappropriate urban fire management, mowing, pollution, trampling and agricultural expansion. It is therefore listed as Critically Endangered under criterion B.
