Justification
This species has a wide distribution in the Western Cape Province, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 20 469 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 108 km². It is known from between 12 and 15 locations. There is a continuing decline in the quality of habitat due to infestations of invasive alien plants and inappropriate fire regimes, and loss of habitat is continuing. It therefore nearly meets the thresholds for Vulnerable under criterion B and is listed as Near Threatened.

Threats
This species has already lost 61% of its habitat to infrastructure development and agriculture. Alien invasive plants (mainly pine, wattle and hakea) are causing subpopulations to decline at most locations. There is a continuing decline of remaining fragments due to agriculture and housing developments. This species might also be vulnerable to inappropriate fire regime.
Population

Most of the subpopulations remain in small isolated fragments. The population size is unknown, however, the population trend is inferred to be declining due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation.
