Scientific Name | Erica pycnantha Benth. |
Higher Classification | Dicotyledons |
Family | ERICACEAE |
National Status |
Status and Criteria | Vulnerable B1ab(iii,v)+2ab(iii,v) |
Assessment Date | 2022/09/26 |
Assessor(s) | F. Munro & R.C. Turner |
Justification | A range-restricted species with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 1038 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 64 km². It is known from an estimated seven locations from the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. A number of subpopulations are declining due to competition from invasive alien plant species. It is therefore listed as Vulnerable under criterion B. |
Distribution |
Endemism | South African endemic |
Provincial distribution | Western Cape |
Range | This species occurs on the Kogelberg Mountains in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. |
