Assessor(s) | H. Mtshali |
Justification | This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 25 996 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 120 km². It occurs in at least 25 subpopulations and is threatened by alien invasive species and agriculture expansion. It nearly meets the Vulnerable category, therefore, it is listed as Near Threatened under criterion B. |
Distribution |
Endemism | South African endemic |
Provincial distribution | Northern Cape, Western Cape |
Range | This species occurs from the Bokkeveld Mountains to the Cape Peninsula. |
Habitat and Ecology |

Threats |
More than 60% of this species' habitat has been severely transformed into agricultural fields and infrastructure development. The loss continues at a slow rate due to agricultural expansion. Additionally, the remaining patches where this species is found are at risk from alien invasive plants and inappropriate fire management. |
Population |
No quantitative population data is available for this species, but it is known to exist in at least 25 subpopulations. A continuing population decline is inferred due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation.
