Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 46 275 km² and an area of occupancy of 792 km². It is widespread and common. Currently, it is assessed as Least Concern because it is too abundant to be at risk of extinction in the near future. However, population trends should be monitored

Description
Plants grow in sandy and stony flats and slopes.
Threats
In the Kuilsriver area, this species is threatened by land pollution caused by agricultural runoff. Habitat degradation due to agricultural crops and livestock farming is a past, continuing, and future threat. Harvesting has also been reported as a severe threat in the past, and it is expected to continue. It is also severely threatened by competition from invasive alien species, and this will likely continue into the future.
Population

This species is widespread in the Western Cape province. At the time of assessment, it had 575 observations posted by citizen scientists on the iNaturalist platform from across its known range. This is an indication that while the species may be facing threats such as habitat degradation and loss, harvesting and competition from invasive alien species, it is still locally abundant and widespread across its range.
