Justification
Drosanthemum oculatum is a range-restricted habitat specialist, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 1737 km². It is known from six locations and potentially threatened by habitat loss to mining.

Description
It occurs on loamy flats with quartz pebbles.
Threats
This species is potentially threatened by habitat loss to mining at one known location on the Knersvlakte, but other locations are not threatened. There has recently been an increasing interest in mining on the Knersvlakte (N.A. Helme, pers. comm.).
