Known from only two locations is South Africa (EOO <500 km²) where it is declining due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation. It also occurs in Namibia, but the Namibian population is also threatened by mining, and therefore the national status is not downgraded.
Not endemic to South Africa
Provincial distribution
Northern Cape
Southern Namibia to Port Nolloth.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system
Major habitats
Oograbies Plains Sandy Grassland, Southern Richtersveld Scorpionstailveld, Western Gariep Plains Desert
Sandy flats.
Threatened by habitat loss to destructive open-cast mining along the lower Gariep Valley in South Africa and Namibia. It is also declining due to habitat degradation as a result of severe overstocking of rangelands east of Alexander Bay, as well as east of Port Nolloth.

This species is known from two widely separated locations on the coastal plains of the Richtersveld between Port Nolloth and Alexander Bay. It is possibly overlooked in the ±100 km² areas in between, but the species is evidently very rare.
