Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 5932 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 64 km². It is known from 14 to 20 subpopulations, the population is stable and faces no significant threats. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is known from the vicinity of Nieuwoudtville in Northern Cape, South Africa. It is also found near Clanwilliam and Tulbagh in the Western Cape.

Description
It grows in heavy red clay soils associated with rocky doleritic outcrops.
Threats
It has lost 26% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS), however, it is not in danger of extinction as the threats are very slight. It only grows amongst rocks in Dolerite Kopies, and this habitat is safe from ploughing.
Population

Previously thought to have a small population and listed nationally as rare in 2006, field surveys since 2006 have doubled the number of known subpopulations. Some of the recently recorded subpopulations have high numbers of mature individuals. The population trend is stable.
