Justification | This species is known from five subpopulations, four of which occur in South Africa and one in Namibia. It has an area of occupancy (AOO) of 16 km². It is a recently discovered species from a remote and poorly explored part of South Africa. It is not threatened but occurs as sparsely scattered individual plants and is therefore listed as Rare due to low density of individuals. |
Distribution |
Endemism | Not endemic to South Africa |
Provincial distribution | Northern Cape |
Range | It is found in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa, between the Orange River and Steinkopf in the Richtersveld, and extends to south-western Namibia. |

Population |
It has four known subpopulations in South Africa, and a single subpopulation in Namibia. No detailed surveys have been conducted however the subpopulation on the Ploegberg has been recently observed (2020) and occurs as sparsely scattered plants. The population is not known to be declining.
