Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 605 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 24 km². It is known from four severely fragmented subpopulations, the largest of which is losing habitat for the development of a housing estate. Loss is ongoing and rapid. It is therefore listed as Endangered under criterion B.

This species has lost 81% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS) from crop cultivation, which is a past threat. All potential suitable habitat surrounding Malmesbury has been converted. Urban development is also a threat: 99% of habitat of the largest subpopulation at the commonage was converted for housing between 2002- 2007.
Population

It is known from four fragmented subpopulations and the population is experiencing a decreasing trend. Less than 10 plants were observed in two locations: Malmesburg in 2017 and Hercules Pilaar in 2011. Less than 50 plants were observed in Klipheuwel in 2008.
