Justification
This species is widespread, but a rare and localized habitat specialist. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 344 962 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 68 km². It is known from at least eight subpopulations and is not threatened. It is listed as Least Concern.

Range
It is endemic to South Africa, and has a wide, but scattered distribution across the eastern summer rainfall areas, from the Soutpansberg in Limpopo to the Boschberg near Somerset East, Eastern Cape. It has not been recorded in KwaZulu-Natal, but is likely to occur there.

Description
It is localized to ledges on wet cliffs and damp places in the spray of waterfalls.
Threats
There are no severe threats to this species.
Population

This is a rare and very localized habitat specialist. It is possibly overlooked in KwaZulu-Natal and the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape, as its habitat is often inaccessible. The population is however not suspected to be declining.
