Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 103 319 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 144 km². Despite being threatened by habitat degradation and loss, it persists in more than 30 subpopulations. Due to its widespread and common presence, it is listed as Least Concern.

This species is found throughout the Eastern Cape, from Joubertina in the west to the Keiskamma river in the east and as far north as Mitchell's Pass in Hogsback.

Description
It is recorded from a wide range of soil and vegetation types, including three Thicket sub-types, coastal Renosterveld and Grassy Fynbos.
Threats
This species is tolerant of all forms of competition in its habitat; hence, it can be found in a wide range of vegetation types. Threats to each habitat condition vary, from livestock trampling to infrastructure development in the form of human settlements and industrial facilities. Despite these threats, recent observations indicate a persistent and widespread distribution within its range.
