Aristea rufobracteata is a southern coastal mountain species that is relatively widely distributed in the Western and Eastern Cape provinces. It has no immediate threats and therefore it is not suspected to be in danger of extinction. It is listed as Least Concern.

This species is distributed on the southern coastal mountains of the Western and Eastern Cape provinces, from the Langeberg, Outeniqua, Tsitsikamma and Baviaanskloof mountains.

Description
This evergreen, rhizomatous perennial occurs on stony sandstone slopes in fynbos, at 400-600 m.a.s.l., flowering after fire.
Threats
It may have lost habitat to agriculture and timber plantations in the past. However, it occurs in several protected areas, and there are currently no severe threats (Goldblatt and Manning, 2015).
