Justification
This montane species is restricted to fire refuge habitats, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 536 km². It known from at least 10 subpopulations and is fairly common where it occurs and is not suspected to be in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

This species has a restricted distribution in the Western Cape province of South Africa, where it occurs from Bain's Kloof to the Hottentots-Holland mountains.

Description
It grows in shady kloofs and gullies, at 500-1800 m.a.s.l.
Threats
There are no severe threats affecting this species. Recent field observations recorded presence of alien invasive plants in low densities in some parts of the range. These could outcompete native species in future if left unmanaged.

It is fairly common on south facing slopes.
