Justification | A range-restricted species endemic to the Namaqualand region of South Africa. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 412 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 28 km². Known from six locations it is declining due to illegal collecting for the succulent horticultural trade. |

Threats |
There has been a significant increase in demand for Conophytums coming from Asian countries since March 2019 this taxon is popular in cultivation and is experiencing ongoing decline due to illegal collection. |
Population |
This species is locally abundant in suitable habitat. Population size likely to be well in excess of 2 000 plants, however the population is declining as a result of illegal collecting. The rate of decline is not known.
